Objective of the Game
In Liar Dice, also known as Perudo, the aim is to outsmart your opponents through clever bluffing and guessing, and to be the last player with dice remaining.
Game Components
- 5 dice per player
- One dice cup per player
Setup
- Each player receives 5 dice and a dice cup.
- All players roll their dice under their cups at the same time, keeping the results hidden from the other players.
Gameplay
-
The first player makes a bid about the total number of a specific die face (1-6) that they believe appears under all the cups at the table. For example, a player might bid: "There are at least 5 threes."
-
The next player has two options:
- Raise: They can make a higher bid, either in the number of dice or the face value (e.g., "6 threes" or "5 fours").
- Challenge: If the player doesn't believe the previous player's bid, they declare "Liar."
-
When a bid is challenged, all players reveal their dice. It's then checked whether the bid is confirmed.
-
If the bid was correct, the challenger loses a die. If the bid was incorrect, the player who made the bid loses a die.
-
The loss of dice means removing a die from play. The start of the next round is with the player who expressed doubt in the last round.
-
The game ends when only one player has dice left. This player is the winner.
Special Rules
- Ones as Wilds: Ones are wild and can always count as the current bid number.
- Strategy Suggestion: Early in the game, conservative bids can be smart to gather information about the other players' dice. Later in the game, as fewer dice remain, bluffing becomes riskier but necessary to win.
Tips
- Keep track of the total number of dice in play.
- Observe other players for bluff patterns.
- Use the wild ones rule to your advantage to bluff credibly while avoiding excessive risk.
