Objective of the Game
Solo is a card game suitable for 2 to 10 players, but best played with 3 to 6 players. The objective of the game is to be the first player to discard all of your cards.
Game Components
- 108 cards (98 number cards in five colors and 10 special cards)
- A rulebook
Setup
- Shuffle all the cards well.
- Each player is dealt 8 cards.
- The remaining cards form the draw pile, placed face down in the center.
- The top card of this pile is flipped over to form the discard pile.
Gameplay
The game is played in clockwise order. The player to the left of the dealer begins.
Basic Rules
- A player can discard a card if it matches either the number or the color of the top card on the discard pile.
- If a player cannot play a card, they must draw one card from the draw pile.
- If the player still cannot play, the turn passes to the next player.
Special Cards
- Reverse (Arrow card) in two colors: This card reverses the direction of play.
- Skip: The next player must skip their turn.
- Draw-Two: The next player must draw two cards and cannot play a card this round.
- Wish Card: The player who plays this card can choose a color that the next player must match.
- Card Swap: The player swaps their hand cards with any other player.
Calling "Solo"
When a player has only one card left, they must call "Solo". If they forget and another player notices, they must draw two cards as a penalty.
End of the Game
The game ends when a player plays all their cards. That player wins the round. Typically, several rounds are played, and the player with the most rounds won is the overall winner.
Strategic Tips
- Hold Special Cards strategically to reduce your hand quickly towards the end.
- Pay attention to other players' cards; if a player frequently cannot play, try changing the color or number that benefits you.
- Try not to call "Solo" too early if there’s a possibility you'll have to play several more rounds.
Solo is a dynamic game requiring quick decisions and keen observation of your opponents. With a little practice, you'll develop a feel for tactics and the optimal timing for using special cards.
