Pünct

Objective: The objective of Pünct, an abstract strategy game from the Gipf project series, is to create a continuous connection between two opposite sides of the hexagonal board. This connection is made by aligning consecutive stones of your color.

Setup: - Pünct is played by two players. - Each player receives a set of hexagonal pieces in one color, typically black or white. - The board is a large hexagon divided into smaller hexagonal spaces.

Rules: 1. Turn Choice: - In each turn, a player can either play a new piece on the board or move an existing piece. - Each piece has a specific shape and can be placed in various rotations.

  1. Placing Pieces:
  2. To place a new piece, a player must position a contact point in their own playing area lights.
  3. If this contact point touches an already placed piece, it is considered to be held by the net.

  4. Moving Pieces:

  5. When moving a piece, you may leap over other pieces as long as no overlap occurs at the end of the move.
  6. A piece can be lifted, moved, and laid down again in any orientation provided it fits legally in its new position.

  7. Creating Connections:

  8. The main objective is to establish an uninterrupted line of your colored pieces from one side of the board to the opposite.
  9. This line can be straight or curved as long as the stones remain connected.

Game Strategy: - Plan ahead to block your opponent's moves while plotting your own route across the board. - Flexible Piece Movement is key. Use the ability to move pieces to close gaps in your chain or to hinder your opponent. - Block positions: Since the game is decisively won when one side is connected, it is critical not only to focus on your own progress but also on the threats posed by the opponent.

Pünct demands patience, foresight, and tactical skill. As the game contains no elements of chance, strategy and forward-thinking are crucial.
