Objective of the Game
Stoner Fluxx is a card game where the rules change constantly during play. The main objective is to meet the current win conditions established by Goal cards. These goals often change, so players must continuously adapt their strategy. A player wins as soon as they satisfy the conditions of a Goal card.
Setup
- Number of Players: Suitable for 2 to 6 players.
- Materials: A deck of Stoner Fluxx cards.
- Setup: Each player is dealt three cards. The rest of the deck becomes the draw pile.
Gameplay Basics
Stoner Fluxx works on the Fluxx mechanic system, where the rules are constantly in flux. It begins with a Basic Rule:
- Draw 1, Play 1: Each player draws one card at the start of their turn and plays one card from their hand.
Types of Cards
- Action Cards: Played for immediate effects.
- Rule Cards: Alter the basic rules (e.g., "Draw 2," "Play 3"). These remain in play until replaced by new rules.
- Goal Cards: Specify how a player can win. New goals replace any previous Goal cards.
- Keeper Cards: These are items or concepts that are placed in front of a player. Keeper cards can be used to meet goals.
- Creeper Cards: These are drawn and revealed immediately. They can inhibit progress toward goals or alter game conditions.
Gameplay
- The previously determined starting player begins, and play moves clockwise.
- On your turn:
- Draw cards as dictated by the current Draw Rule.
- Play cards as dictated by the current Play Rule.
- Do not lay down goals if current Creepers inhibit you.
- Adjust your Hand Limit to the current rule before ending your turn.
End of Game
The game ends immediately when a player meets the conditions of the current Goal card.
Strategic Tips
- Flexibility is key: Stick to adaptable strategies as the game conditions frequently change.
- Watch for Rule Changes: New rule cards can optimize your drawing and playing actions.
- Monitor the Keepers: These directly affect your ability to meet goals, hence deciding when to collect or play Keepers can be critical.
