Objective of the Game
The objective of Quartett is to collect as many complete quartets (sets of four related cards) as possible. The player with the most quartets at the end wins the game.
Preparations
Participants: Quartett is best played with 3 or more players, but ideally with 3 to 6 players.
Cards: The game is played with a special Quartett card deck. These cards are grouped into sets of four, often based on a theme such as cars, animals, or famous personalities.
- Shuffle: Shuffle the cards thoroughly.
- Dealing: Deal all cards to the players. It's okay if some players have one more card than others.
- Examine cards: Players should look at their cards and organize them by potential quartets.
Gameplay
- Starting player: A randomly chosen player begins the game.
- Asking questions: The starting player asks any other player for a specific card to complete a quartet, such as, "Do you have the card with the red sports car?" The asker must already hold at least one card from the quartet they are asking about.
- Card handover: If the asked player has the card, they must give it to the asker, who can then ask another question.
- Speaker change: If the player does not have the card, it becomes their turn to ask another player for a card.
- Forming a quartet: Once a player completes a quartet, they place it face up on the table.
Ending the Game
The game ends when all quartets have been collected and there are no cards left in players' hands.
Winning: The player with the most quartets wins the game.
Strategies
- Set priorities: Focus on completing known quartets early.
- Remember who has what: Keep track of which players have specific cards based on what they asked for.
- Be discreet: Be careful not to give away too much information about which cards you are missing, as this can reveal your strategy.
