Objective of the Game

Pueblo is a strategic board game where players take on the role of skilled builders tasked with constructing a Pueblo temple. The objective is to place stones strategically within a shared structure and accumulate the fewest points, with each point acting as a penalty. At the end of the game, the player with the lowest score wins.

Game Components

  • A game board acting as the construction site.
  • 60 colored building stones (15 for each of the four player colors).
  • One "Neutral Building Conductor" piece.
  • A score pad for keeping track of points.

Setup

Each player receives a set of 15 stones in their chosen color. The "Neutral Building Conductor" is placed on the starting point of the path surrounding the construction area.

Gameplay

Turn Sequence

Players take turns in order, and each turn consists of the following steps:

  1. Building a Stone: The active player must place one of their stones onto the construction site. Stones can be placed on the ground or on top of other stones. The following rules apply:
  2. A stone must always be fully supported by one or more other stones.
  3. A stone cannot be solely supported by their own stones.
  4. No part of a stone may be placed outside the boundary of the site.

  5. Moving the Neutral Conductor: After each turn, the building conductor is moved precisely one space around the structure and assesses the visibility of the stones from its current position.

  6. Evaluate Visibility: Points are added for each visible stone of the player's own color from the conductor's current position. A stone is visible if one of its faces is seen from its position.

  7. A block at ground level scores one point, at the second level two points, etc.

End of the Game

The game ends when players have placed all their stones. The winner is the player with the fewest accumulated points.

Strategic Considerations

  • Conceal your stones by placing them behind others or on lower levels to make them less visible.
  • Prevent other players from hiding their pieces by constructing higher and broader walls.
  • Plan ahead to utilize the conductor's movement to minimize your stone's visibility.

Pueblo requires both tactical placement and forward-thinking to succeed. Remember, every point matters, and the art of the game is to remain less visible.
