Objective of the Game:
The objective of Sauerbaum is to be the first player to collect three specific fruits on your tree, thus winning the game. It involves not only luck but also strategic decisions on when and how to use your fruit most effectively.
Components:
- A game board with a large tree in the center.
- Each player has a set of seven cards with various fruit symbols.
- A six-sided dice, with each side depicting a fruit symbol.
Setup:
- Each player selects a starting point on the board and places a small, colorful vial of "vitamin drinks" next to them (serving as a life indicator).
- Shuffle the cards and place them face down in a deck.
- Each player initially draws two cards.
Gameplay:
The game proceeds clockwise.
-
Rolling the Dice: The player rolls the die and moves to a branch that displays the fruit symbol shown on the die.
-
Perform Action: If the player lands on a fruit field, they have two options:
- Draw a card: Draw a card from the deck.
-
Play a card: Play a fruit card from your hand to place a fruit on the tree. To place a fruit, three identical fruit cards must be played at once.
-
Vitamin Drink: For each stored fruit, the player receives a vitamin drink. These drinks prevent other players from directly stealing collected fruits, but they allow the player to effectively counteract theft attempts.
-
Special Events:
- Ripe Fruit: When a player lands on a specific field, they can harvest from the tree and receive one additional fruit for free.
- Storm: Sometimes an event is triggered that affects all players, such as a "storm" field, where all players lose a fruit.
End of the Game:
The game ends when a player has collected their three different fruits on their tree. This player is the winner.
Strategy Tips:
- Card Collection: Try to focus on collecting cards of one fruit type first to place fruits faster.
- Positioning: Always keep an eye on the location of other players and avoid intense encounters to lose fruits.
- Save Vitamin Drinks: Use your vitamin drinks wisely, especially if you have already collected one or two fruits and want to secure them.
