Objective of the Game
Trente et un is a card game where the objective is to achieve the highest card value in one suit in a round, without exceeding 31 points.
Game Materials
- A standard 32-card French deck (either from seven to ace or from nine to ace, depending on the variant).
- The game can be played by 2 to 9 players.
Card Values
- Ace: 11 points
- King, Queen, Jack: 10 points
- Number cards (depending on deck 7 or 9 to 10): face value
Setup
Each player is dealt three cards, which are kept secret. The remaining cards form a draw pile, with the top card turned over to start the discard pile.
Game Play
The play proceeds clockwise. The starting player chooses one of the following actions:
- Draw a card:
- The player can take the top card of the draw pile or the top card of the discard pile.

Then, they must discard one card face-down to the discard pile.

Knock:
- By knocking, a player signals to end the round. Each other player gets one last turn.

Then, all players reveal their cards, and the scores are compared.
