Drunter & Drüber

Objective: In "Drunter & Drüber," players act as city planners trying to assert their interests as the cityscape changes continuously. The goal is to score points by maintaining your own buildings and building over others.

Components:

  • Game Board: An 8x8 grid filled with various tiles.
  • Tiles: Road, river, and railway tiles that can be placed on the board.
  • Buildings: Each building belongs to a specific faction (color).
  • Voting Cards: These cards are used to vote on whether a tile may be placed.

Setup:

  1. Each player secretly draws a faction color. These are: Inns, Privies, Town Hall, Houses.
  2. The tiles are shuffled face down, and neutral buildings and decorations are placed randomly on the board.
  3. Each player receives voting cards.

Game Play:

  1. Draw a Tile: The starting player draws a tile from the supply.
  2. Propose Placement:
  3. The player suggests a location to place the tile. There are building rules stating that only certain buildings can be built over unless a vote is held.

  4. Voting:

  5. All players now secretly vote on whether the proposed tile may be placed.
  6. Players use their voting cards. The cards indicate the objects they should favor in votes.
  7. If the majority agrees, the tile is placed and any buildings underneath are removed.

  8. Defending Buildings:

  9. If a player believes their building is threatened, they can force an override through a veto-like building block move.

  10. End Turn:

  11. The next player clockwise becomes the active player.

Ending the Game:

The game ends once all tiles have been drawn and placed. Players reveal their faction colors and tally points: - Points are awarded for buildings that remain intact. - Hidden buildings rewarded with more points if unscathed. - The player with the most points wins "Drunter & Drüber."

Strategic Tips:

  • Balance Offense and Defense: Play both offensively to destroy opponents' buildings and defensively to protect your own.
  • Keep Secrets: Avoid showing openly which buildings are yours to prevent opponents from targeting you.
  • Diplomacy: Use votes cleverly to get others on your side or to block opponents' plans.

In summary, "Drunter & Drüber" requires a blend of planning, strategy, and diplomacy to thrive in its ever-changing cityscape.
