Objective of the Game
In Augustus, the goal is to be the first player to fulfill a certain number of objective cards, gather resources, and score victory points.
Number of Players
- 3 to 6 players
Game Components
- Objective Cards: Each objective card represents a task requiring several symbols.
- Provinces and Senators: Two types of objective cards that players need to fulfill during their turn.
- Resources: Symbols needed to fulfill the cards.
- Legion Markers: Placeable markers to match the drawn resource symbols.
Setup
- Shuffle the objective cards and distribute an equal number to each player secretly.
- Place the remaining objective cards as a draw pile in the center.
- Each player receives a set number of legion markers.
Gameplay
Augustus is played over several rounds distinguished by the drawing and announcing of resource markers. One player becomes the Herald, who announces the round.
- Drawing Resources: The Herald randomly draws a resource marker from the bag and announces the symbol aloud.
- Placing Legions: Based on the announced symbol, players place their legion markers on the corresponding positions of their Objective Cards.
-
Completing Objective Cards: When a player covers all required symbols on an objective card, they shout "Ave Caesar!" and place the completed card into their stack, drawing a new one immediately.
-
The Herald continues this role until the "Joker" symbol is drawn, ending the current round.
End of the Game
The game ends once a player completes their seventh objective card. The round is completed to ensure all players have taken the same number of turns.
Scoring
At the end, players tally their victory points obtained through fulfilled objective cards and possibly through accomplished mission goals. The player with the most victory points wins the game.

- Resource Management: Be efficient in distributing your legions without overcommitting to cards that are challenging to complete.
