The Palace of Alhambra

Objective of the Game

In The Palace of Alhambra, players aim to build the most impressive Alhambra by acquiring and arranging building tiles according to specific rules. The goal is to have the most valuable Alhambra by the end of the game to earn the highest score.

Game Components

• 6 player cards
• 108 building cards in four different currencies
• 54 building tiles
• 1 board with a construction yard and money market
• 1 scoring chart
• 6 reserve cards

Setup

1. Each player chooses a color and takes the corresponding player board.
2. Sort the building tiles by type, shuffle, and set them in face-down piles.
3. Randomly place building tiles on the construction yard according to the rules.
4. Shuffle the building cards and deal starting cards with a total value of 20 units to each player in various currencies.
5. The remaining cards form the draw pile.
6. Shuffle three scoring cards into the deck to trigger three scoring rounds.

Gameplay

Players take turns moving clockwise, choosing one of the following actions:

1. Take Money:
2. Draw building cards totaling up to 5 units from open piles.

3. Choose one or several cards as long as their total value doesn't exceed 5 units.

4. Buy a Building Tile:

5. Purchase a building tile from the construction yard.
6. Pay with the exact amount in the correct currency.

7. Exact payment allows the player to take another immediate action.

8. Place or Reserve a Building Tile:

9. Add a building tile to their Alhambra according to placement rules such as matching wall sections.
10. Alternatively, move the tile to their reserve for later use.

Scoring

There are three scoring rounds, triggered by the scoring cards:

• First Scoring: Points for majority in building types.
• Second Scoring: Points for majority plus bonus for longest continuous wall.
• Third Scoring: Same as the second but with double wall bonuses.

End of the Game

The game ends when the construction yard cannot be refilled after the third scoring round or the draw pile is empty. The player with the most points wins.

Strategic Tips

• Make sure to have diverse currencies on hand for purchasing flexibility.
• Plan building placement to maximize wall bonuses and secure high-value property spots.
