Objective of the Game

The objective of Khet is to use a laser beam to strike your opponent's Pharaoh. You need to strategically position and move your mirrors to direct the laser towards the Pharaoh figures.

Game Components

• A game board with a 10x8 grid.
• Each player has a set of:
• 1 Pharaoh
• 2 Djed (analogous to bishops)
• 1 Anubis (protective piece)
• 2 Pyramids (one side reflects the laser, the other does not)
• 1 Sphinx (laser emitter).

Setup

• Each player selects a color, either Silver or Red.
• The pieces are set up on the board according to the setup illustration in the manual.
• The board has a starting position depicted in the rulebook.
• Each player places their Sphinx at the edge of their field, the Sphinx can only fire the laser beam along its own edge.

Gameplay

1. Moves and Actions: Players alternate turns. A turn can include:
2. Moving a piece one square in any direction (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal).
3. Rotating a piece 90 degrees.

4. Firing the laser from their Sphinx to see which pieces are eliminated.

5. Firing the Laser: The laser is initially fired only from the Sphinx along the direction it is pointing.

6. If the laser hits a mirror, it will be deflected according to the mirror's position.
7. If it hits a non-reflecting side, the piece is taken out of the game.

8. You win if the beam strikes and eliminates the opponent's Pharaoh.

9. Elimination: Pieces struck by a laser on their non-reflecting side are removed from the board.

10. Game End: The game ends as soon as a player hits the opponent's Pharaoh with the laser beam, thereby eliminating it.

Strategy

• Plan Ahead: Carefully consider each move, as a misplaced mirror could give the opponent an advantage.
• Position Mirrors Smartly: Use mirrors to strengthen your defense and direct the laser towards the opponent’s Pharaoh.
• Protect Your Pharaoh with Djed and Anubis: Utilize these pieces to avoid direct laser strikes on your Pharaoh.
