Instructions Dragonwood

Objective

The aim of Dragonwood is to defeat creatures and collect their cards. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins. Points are earned by defeating creatures and achieving goal cards.

Game Components

• 1 Game Board representing the Dragonwood forest
• 42 Adventurer Cards in five different colors with values from 1-12
• 42 Dragonwood Cards consisting of creatures, enhancements, and goals
• 6 Dice
• Rulebook

Setup

1. Dragonwood Cards: Shuffle the Dragonwood deck and place it face down as a draw pile. Reveal five cards and arrange them in a row.
2. Adventurer Cards: Shuffle the deck and deal each player 5 cards.

Gameplay

The game is played clockwise. Each player takes turns performing the following actions:

1. Draw an Adventurer Card: Either draw an adventurer card to strengthen your hand. Hand limit is 9 cards.

OR

1. Attempt to Capture a Creature: Try to defeat a creature by using one of the following combinations of played cards:
2. Strike (Straight): Play a series of consecutive cards, e.g., 4, 5, 6.
3. Stomp (Color): Play cards of the same color.
4. Scream (Set): Play cards of the same value.

Roll an appropriate number of dice (1-6) based on the number of cards played. Add the dice results together and compare them to the creature's strength.

• If the roll is equal to or greater than the creature’s strength, you defeat the creature and add it to your collection. It provides points.
• If the roll is lower, nothing happens, and your turn ends.

End of the Game

The game ends when both dragons have been defeated or when the adventurer deck is exhausted. Players tally the points from their defeated creatures and goals. The player with the most points wins.

Strategic Tips

• Resource Management: Keep the hand limit in mind to effectively wage battles.
• Plan Combos: Consider which attack type (Strike, Stomp, Scream) to use based on your hand and the open creatures.
• Observe: Pay attention to what cards other players are collecting and adjust your strategy accordingly.
