Objective
Blind Hookey is a card game typically played with a standard deck of 52 cards. The aim of the game is to correctly guess where the target card is located. This game relies primarily on luck and the ability to pay close attention.
Setup
- Thoroughly shuffle the deck.
- Designate one player as the Dealer.
Rules and Gameplay
- The Dealer selects any card from the deck as the "target card," without showing it to the other players.
- The dealer then takes three additional cards at random from the deck, making a total of four cards.
- These four cards are placed face-down on the table in a row, where no one can see them.
- The other players must then try to guess which of the laid down cards is the target card.
- Each player places their bet on the card they think is the target.
- Once all bets are placed, the dealer reveals the cards, showing which was the target card.
- Players who guessed correctly win according to a pre-determined payout structure.
Payout
- The exact payout depends on the number of players and should be decided before the game starts. Typically, correctly guessing the target card will pay double or triple the bet.
Strategy Tips
- Because the game is mostly based on luck, there are no strategic ways to significantly improve chances of success. However, observing the dealer during the setup (e.g., movements when laying down the target card) might offer slight advantages.
End of the Game
- The game may end after a predetermined number of rounds or whenever all players are content.
