- Card Game (French Deck)

Strategy, Family Game, Luck-based Game

group 2 - 6 Deutsch

Objective of the Game

The aim in Brausebart is to collect as many points as possible by strategically winning piles of cards or by forcing the opponent to resolve the last wager through skillful card placement.

Game Materials

  • A standard deck of poker cards (52 cards)
  • A sturdy table or another firm surface

Number of Players

Brausebart is suitable for 2 to 6 players.

Game Setup

All cards are evenly dealt to all players. If there is an odd number of cards, the remaining card is set aside. Each player holds their cards in their hand, hidden from view.

Basic Rules of the Game

  1. Round Start: A starting player is chosen to lay the first card openly in the center of the table.
  2. Playing Cards: Players take turns laying a card of the same or higher rank on the pile of cards that accumulates in the center.
  3. If a player has no suitable card, they may either play any card as "Brausebart" or must take the entire pile.
  4. Ending the Round: When a player takes the pile, the round ends and the player may lay a new card to start a new round.
  5. Winning Condition: The game ends when a player has no more cards. The player with the most piles won (or few/no cards, depending on house rules) wins.

Special Rules

  • Brausebart Option: A card played as "Brausebart" allows for automatic placement, regardless of rank. After a "Brausebart" is played, the next player unable to play the required card is forced to take the pile as a penalty.

Strategies and Tips

  • Card Counting: Try to track the card movements. Which cards have been played, and which are still in play? This helps assess the odds of winning a pile more accurately.
  • Brausebart Tactics: Use "Brausebart" cleverly. Confuse your opponents or put them in a situation where they have to take the pile by deploying unexpected moves.
  • High Cards: Save high cards for decisive rounds to block a pile or secure valuable opportunities towards the end of the game.

Brausebart combines elements of strategy and luck, requiring players to concentrate and observe other players' actions to succeed.
