Objective of the Game
Illuminati is a strategic card game where the objective is for players to lead a secret society aiming to achieve world domination. Players collect and control various groups to expand their influence and fulfill the conditions on their Illuminati card to win.
Game Components
- Illuminati cards representing each player's secret organization
- Group cards depicting organizations, companies, or entities players can control
- Special cards providing unique benefits or abilities
- Money in the form of game tokens
Setup
- Players: 2 to 6 players
- Each player draws an Illuminati card at the start of the game, placing it face up in front of them. This card determines the player's special abilities and victory conditions.
- Shuffle the groups and special cards and place them as a draw pile in the center of the table.
- Each player receives a starting budget of 10 million dollars in play money.
Gameplay
The game is played in rounds. Each round consists of the following phases:
1. Income Phase
- Each Illuminati generates a fixed income per round, which the player receives as play money.
2. Conspiracy Phase
- Players can attempt to bring new groups under their control. To take control, a player pays the power of the group in money and rolls a six-sided die. If the result is equal to or lower than the power, the takeover is successful.
- Strategy Tip: Stronger groups have better connections and provide more income. Plan carefully which you will try to take over.
3. Action Phase
- Play special cards from your hand to strengthen your position or disrupt other players.
- You can attack or sabotage groups to seize them from other players.
4. End of Round
- Players discard any unused money down to a maximum of 5 million for the next round.
Winning Conditions
- A player wins by fulfilling the victory condition stated on their Illuminati card (e.g., controlling a certain number of groups or groups worth 60 million).
- Strategy Tip: Keep an eye on other players to thwart their progress and control your defensive strategies.
Special Rules and Nuances
- "Special Influence" points on Illuminati cards can be used to influence or modify direct actions in the game.
- Alliances and negotiations between players are allowed but not binding, often essential for gaining strategic advantages.
