Objective
The objective of the game "Corona" is to be the first player or team to move all your pieces from the starting position to the home area. This requires strategic thinking to advance your own pieces while blocking or sending back the pieces of other players.
Components
- A game board with a circular track
- 4 Pieces for each player
- 1 Die
Setup
- Each player chooses a color and receives 4 pieces of that color.
- The pieces are placed on their corresponding starting positions on the board.
- Players roll the die; the highest roll decides who starts first.
Gameplay
-
Turn: Each player rolls the die once per turn.
- On rolling a 6, the player can place a new piece on the start field or move an existing piece forward again.
- If a player doesn't roll a 6, they move one of their pieces forward by the number rolled.
-
Capture: If a player's piece lands on a space occupied by an opponent's piece, the opponent's piece is sent back to its respective start position.
-
Blockade: No more than one of a player's pieces may occupy the same space. If a player attempts this, their turn ends, and the excess piece remains on its previous space.
-
Entering Home: Pieces must move into the home area with an exact roll. Surplus moves are forfeited, and the turn ends.
-
Strategic Considerations:
- Risk-Factor: Decide whether to introduce a new piece into the game or advance existing pieces to avoid having too many pieces on the board at once.
- Sacrifice Play: At times, it is advantageous to intentionally block or play risky to manage the number of opponents' pieces on the board.
End of the Game
The game ends when a player has successfully moved all their pieces into the home area. This player or team wins.
