Objective
Eile mit Weile is a classic board game with the goal of moving all your pieces from the start area into the home section. The player who successfully moves all their pieces into the home area first wins the game.
Number of Players
The game can typically be played by 2 to 4 players.
Materials
- A game board with a circular track, starting squares, and a home section.
- Each player has 4 pieces of a specific color.
- One die.
Game Setup
- Each player chooses a color and places their 4 pieces on the corresponding start squares.
- Determine a starting player by rolling the die – the player with the highest number starts.
Gameplay
- Players take turns rolling the die and moving one of their pieces clockwise around the board according to the number rolled.
- Leaving the Start Area:
- A player must roll a 6 to move a piece from the start square onto the first space on the board. If a 6 is rolled, the player gets an additional turn.
- Moving:
- Roll the die and move a piece according to the die number.
- Special Rule: If you land on another player's piece, that piece is "captured" and sent back to its start area.
- Entering Home:
- To move into the home section, the exact number needed must be rolled.
Important Rules
- If no moves are possible (because all pieces are in the start area or blocked), the turn is skipped.
- Rolling a 6 allows an additional roll, but after three consecutive 6s, the piece cannot continue moving.
Strategic Tips
- Blocking: You can use pieces to strategically block opponents and prevent them from moving.
- Protection: It might be beneficial to have multiple pieces in play to avoid having all your pieces at risk of being captured at once.
Eile mit Weile is a game that relies on both luck (rolling the die) and strategy (positioning and blocking). The balance of the two keeps the tension alive up until the very end of the game.
