Objective of the Game
Taubengelage is a strategic card game where the objective is to score the most points by cleverly playing card combinations and/or completing specific tasks.
Setup
- Shuffle the card deck and deal 5 cards to each player. The rest forms the draw pile.
- Each player receives a reference card with the point values and combinations.
- Prepare a space for the discard pile.
Gameplay
- The game is played in rounds, with each player taking turns.
-
A round consists of the following phases:
-
Draw a card: The player draws a card from the draw pile.
- Play a card: The player can now play a card from their hand:
- Sets: Lay down card combinations to score immediate points. For example, three cards of the same color or a street card + a building card earn a bonus.
- Task Completion: Play a card that fulfills a task on the board (such as playing 'Two red cards' in the same turn) to earn extra points.
-
Discard a card: Each round ends with discarding one card to the discard pile to reduce the hand back to 5 cards.
-
If a player cannot make a valid move, they must discard a card and draw a new one.
Special Cards
- Pigeon card: This special card can be used as a wild card to replace any card type, thus increasing the score of the played combination.
End of the Game
The game ends when the draw pile is depleted. Then, each player counts the accumulated points, and the one with the highest score wins.
Strategy Tips
- Clever combining of cards can quickly yield many points.
- Task completions can bring in a lot of extra points in a few moves.
- Pay attention to what other players are collecting to thwart or adapt to their strategy.
Taubengelage combines luck and strategy and is ideal for players who appreciate tactical thinking and enjoyable complexity in a card game.
