Finstere Flure

Objective:

In "Finstere Flure," or "Fearsome Floors," each player aims to safely guide their playing pieces through a dungeon room where a dangerous monster roams. The first player to successfully move all their pieces across the board to the opposite side wins the game.

Setup:

  • Each player selects a color and receives four playing pieces of that color.
  • Place the game board in the center of the table.
  • Set the monster on its starting position on the board.
  • Each player places their four pieces in the starting row on their side of the board.

Gameplay:

"Finstere Flure" is played in rounds, with players taking turns moving their pieces and the monster being activated at the end of each round.

Player Turn:

  1. Movement of Pieces:
  2. During each round, a player must move at least one of their pieces. Each piece has two numbers on its underside, indicating the number of spaces it can move in one turn. The player can choose to use the full movement allowance or part of it.
  3. The player moves the piece the specified number of spaces on the board. This movement can be horizontal or vertical but not diagonal.
  4. Pieces cannot end their movement directly behind other pieces on the same square, which requires strategic use of the board.

Monster Movement:

  • After all players have moved, the monster takes its turn.
  • A predetermined movement pattern guides the monster, and it is activated by the current player.
  • The monster moves in a straight line, though obstacles or walls may change its direction.
  • If the monster encounters a playing piece in its path, it "eats" it, sending that piece back to its player’s starting line.

Special Rules:

  • Rocks: These can be placed on the board and act as obstacles. Neither pieces nor the monster can pass through rocks.
  • Sarcophagi: These can teleport pieces. If a piece lands on a sarcophagus, it can switch places with another movable spot along the board's edge.
  • Red and blue tiles: These alter movement behaviors and need special attention.

Winning the Game:

The game continues until one player successfully moves all four of their pieces across the board. That player wins the game.

Strategy tip: Since the monster is guided by static mechanics, it's advisable to carefully plan your pieces' movements to evade the monster's path and strategically force opponents into risky positions.
