- Set up the board: Place the board in the center of the table. The volcano is at the center, surrounded by various paths and spaces.
- Distribute materials:
- Each player gets a game piece and places it on the starting space.
- Shuffle the event cards and place them facedown beside the board.
- Determine the playing order: Each player rolls a die; the highest roller goes first and play proceeds clockwise.

Taking Turns: Begin with the starting player and continue in a clockwise direction.
- Roll the dice: Roll the six-sided die and move your piece the number of spaces indicated by the dice.
- Resolve actions: Depending on the space landed:
- Event spaces: Draw an event card and follow the instructions, which can have both positive and negative effects on your progress.
- Volcano spaces: An eruption occurs with specific effects that might move players back or to adjacent positions.
-
Special spaces:
- Shortcut spaces: Some spaces provide shortcuts to advance more quickly but carry risks.
- Obstacle spaces: These spaces might cause you to lose a turn or bring other negative effects.
-
Special rules:
- Volcano eruptions: Triggered by a specific card or space, volcano eruptions change board conditions such as blocking paths or creating additional obstacles.
Winning the Game
The game concludes when a player moves their piece to the summit space of the volcano and claims the treasure, winning the game.
Strategic Tips
- Risk vs. Reward: Carefully consider whether to take shortcuts, as they often come with increased risks.
- Use event cards wisely: Save beneficial cards for opportune moments, especially when opponents are in vulnerable positions.
- Watch other players: Keep an eye on opponents' movements to anticipate their strategies and counter them effectively.
