Objective of the Game
In Entdecker, the objective is for players to gather the most points by exploring lands and seas and making valuable discoveries.
Game Components
- Game Board: A grid on which discoveries are made.
- Explorer Tiles: Square tiles that represent different landscapes, seas, or discovery stations.
- Game Pieces/Ships: For each player to explore and mark.
- Markers: For scoring and controlling discoveries.
- Score Cards: For managing the points.
Setup
- Place the game board in the center of the table.
- Shuffle all explorer tiles and place them face down as a draw pile.
- Each player chooses a color and receives the corresponding game pieces and a marker.
- Keep the score cards handy.
Game Play
The game progresses in rounds, which are divided into the following phases:
- Reveal Tile:
- The current player draws an explorer tile and reveals it.
-
The revealed tile must be placed on the grid board, connecting with at least one side to an adjacent tile.
-
Place Game Pieces:
-
After placing a tile, the player may place one of their game pieces on the tile to claim it. Players cannot place on tiles lying in the sea.
-
Complete Discoveries:
-
When a region of connected land tiles is fully enclosed, it is scored. The player with the most game pieces on this region receives the most points, while other players with pieces on the region receive fewer points.
-
Count Points:
-
The player scores points based on the size of the completed region and collected discoveries.
-
Markers Placement:
-
The player marks their points on the score track with their marker.
-
Turn Change:
- The next player repeats the steps.
Game Ending
The game ends when no explorer tiles are left. The player with the most points on the score track wins the game.
Strategic Tips
- Tile Placement Selection: Place tiles such that you can gain future scoring areas.
- Resource Management: Deploy your game pieces strategically; save one for significant discoveries.
- Tactical Use of Region Completion: Sometimes complete regions for fewer points to deny other players from gaining points.
