Objective
The objective of the game "Leo goes to the Barber" is to get Leo the Lion to the barber within five days before his mane grows too long. Leo moves along a track of face-down path tiles that players collectively reveal and navigate, requiring cooperative teamwork.
Game Components
- Leo token (represents the lion)
- Game board made up of 30 path tiles, forming a pathway
- Barber tile to mark the destination
- Clock board
- Sleep tile
- Cards that control Leo's movement
Setup
- Prepare the board: Shuffle the path tiles and lay them face-down in a loop. The barber tile marks the end of the path.
- Deal cards: Each player receives hand cards in different colors and numbers.
- Start Leo: Place the Leo token on the start space.
- Set the time: Set the clock board to the start of the day.
Gameplay
The game is played in rounds, representing the five days Leo has to reach the barber.
Round Structure
- Play a card: Starting with the first player, players take turns playing one of their hand cards to move Leo forward. The number on the card determines how many spaces Leo moves.
- Reveal tile: When Leo lands on a face-down path tile, it is turned face-up. The tiles have different colors and effects, impacting the remaining time or Leo's movement:
- Matching color: If the card's color matches the path tile, nothing happens.
- Non-matching color: If the colors differ, you lose time (1-5 hours).
- Update time: The clock advances based on the hours lost per tile. After 8 PM, Leo must end the day and return to the start.
- Resupply cards: At the end of the day, each player replenishes their hand to the maximum number.
Strategies & Tips
- Memory skills: Remembering path tiles can help plan better for subsequent days.
- Coordination: Deciding who should play which card can save time.
- Prioritize: Some tiles can be intentionally ignored to save time at more difficult sections.
End of the Game
The game ends if: - Leo reaches the barber before the fifth day ends (All players win). - All five days pass without Leo reaching the barber (All players lose).
"Leo goes to the Barber" is a cooperative game that emphasizes memory skills and teamwork, offering players of all ages exciting challenges to make it to the barber in time.
