Objective of the Game
Wallachen is a historical card game primarily focused on collecting points by acquiring specific card combinations. The game ends when a player reaches or exceeds a certain point threshold.
Setup
To play Wallachen, you'll need a standard 52-card deck. There are no Jokers. Players sit around a table, and the deck is thoroughly shuffled.
Gameplay
-
Dealing Cards: Each player is dealt five cards. The remaining cards form a draw pile placed face down in the center of the table. The top card from the draw pile is turned over to start the discard pile.
-
Player Turn:
- On a player's turn, they can either draw a card from the draw pile or pick up the top card from the discard pile.
- After drawing, they must discard one card from their hand onto the discard pile.
-
The aim is to collect specific combinations (like pairs, triples, or flushes) in their hand through swapping and drawing cards.
-
Scoring:
- The game consists of multiple rounds. Scoring occurs at the end of each round.
-
Pairs score 10 points, triples score 30 points, and a flush (three cards of the same suit in sequence) scores 50 points.
-
Winning a Round:
-
A round ends when a player is able to lay down all cards in their hand in valid combinations.
-
Winning the Game:
- The game is played until reaching 150 points or more. The player with the most points at the end wins.
Strategy Tips
- Watch the Discard Pile: Pay attention to what cards opponents discard to better predict what they might be holding and which combinations they are aiming for.
- Hold Valuable Cards: Keep high cards and valuable combinations in your hand as long as possible to surprise your opponents.
- Weigh Risk and Reward: It might be worth the risk to draw a card from the discard pile to complete a combination.
