Objective of the Game
Chinese Poker is a card game for 2 to 4 players, where the aim is to divide your cards into three poker hands and earn points based on the strength of these hands compared to those of the other players. It is known for its strategic depth and simplicity of rules.
Components
- A standard 52-card deck without jokers.
Basic Rules
- Dealing Cards: Each player is dealt 13 cards from the shuffled deck.
- Hand Division: Players must divide their 13 cards into three separate poker hands:
- A front hand of 3 cards
- A middle hand of 5 cards
- A back hand of 5 cards
- Hand Hierarchy: The back hand must be stronger than the middle hand, which in turn must be stronger than the front hand.
- Hand Rankings:
- The front hand primarily consists of a "Three of a Kind" or lower.
- The middle and back hands are ranked like regular poker hands (e.g., Pair, Two Pair, Three of a Kind, Straight, Flush, etc.).
Scoring
- Each hand of a player is compared against the corresponding hands of the other players.
- Points are awarded for each hand won against a single player, typically one point per hand.
- If a player wins all three hands (a "scoop"), they earn additional bonus points.
Strategic Nuances
- Hand Balancing: Due to the rule that back hands must be stronger than the front, players should consider how to allocate strong cards carefully. Poor distribution might lead to losing all hands.
- Opponent Playstyle Assessment: As each player receives 13 cards, it's crucial to strategically assess the possible cards the opponents might hold and the hands they might construct.
End of the Game
The game usually ends after a set number of rounds is played or when a player reaches a predetermined score.
