Objective
In Kakerlakak, players aim to be the first to move their figure to the opposite side of the game board by navigating a cockroach through a maze of cutlery.
Game Components
- 1 maze game board with rotating cutlery pieces
- 1 HEXBUG Nano – cockroach
- 4 player figures in different colors
- 18 cutlery pieces (knives, forks, spoons)
- 1 die
Setup
-
Board Setup: Place the game board in the center of the table. Each player selects a figure and places it on their starting space.
-
Create the Maze: Insert the 18 cutlery pieces (knives, forks, spoons) into the designated slots on the board. These parts can be rotated.
-
Prepare the Cockroach: Place the HEXBUG cockroach in the middle of the maze.
Gameplay
-
Turn Order: Determine a starting player. The game proceeds clockwise.
-
Roll the Die: The current player rolls the die.
-
The die shows a symbol of a cutlery piece (knife, fork, or spoon).
-
Rotate: The player then rotates one of the cutlery pieces in the maze corresponding to the symbol on the die by 90 degrees in either direction. This affects the route of the cockroach, thereby affecting where figures can move.
-
Activate the Cockroach: Once the cutlery piece is rotated, the cockroach is set in motion. It moves uncontrollably through the maze.
-
Move the Figures: When the cockroach touches a player’s figure, the player can move their figure forward by one space.
Rules
- Blockages: If the cockroach gets stuck and isn’t moving, players can manually nudge it.
- Special Situations: The cockroach may push figures in unintended directions - this is a permitted risk.
- Game End: The game concludes immediately when a player successfully moves their figure to the opposite side of the board.
Strategy Tips
- Anticipate: Try to predict the movements of the cockroach by observing the orientation of the cutlery pieces.
- Block Opponents: Rotate cutlery pieces to block other players or slow them down.
With this knowledge, you’re ready to navigate the cockroach through the cutlery maze and start Kakerlakak!
