Objective of the Game
In Trilma, also known as Sternhalma or Chinese Checkers, the objective is to move all your pieces as quickly as possible from your starting triangle to the opposite triangle on the board.
Components
- A hexagonal board, shaped like a six-pointed star.
- Each player has 10 pieces, typically in different colors.
Setup
- Each player selects a color and places all 10 of their pieces in one of the star's points, known as the starting triangle.
- The opposite triangle is the target area where they must move their pieces.
Game Rules
Turn Order:
- Players take turns moving one of their pieces.
- A piece can be moved to an adjacent empty space or jump over neighboring pieces so long as the landing spot is empty. Multiple consecutive jumps in one turn are allowed.
Jumping Rules:
- Pieces can jump over both their own and opponents' pieces.
- Multiple jumps during a single turn are permissible, provided they are spatially feasible and the landing spaces are empty.
Strategic Tips
Chain Jumping: Try to utilize a chain of adjacent pieces to perform long jump sequences. This can help reach the target area faster.
Blocking: Occasionally, position your pieces to hinder or redirect your opponents' moves.
Winning Condition
The first player to move all 10 pieces into the opposite triangle wins the game.
Trilma requires both strategic planning and the ability to adapt quickly to changing board situations.
