Objective
The objective of Mistigri is to discard all paired cards from your hand, without being the player left holding the Mistigri card (the black cat) at the end. The player who ends up with the Mistigri card loses the game.
Setup
- Shuffle the Cards: The game uses a special deck of cards consisting of various pairs and a single Mistigri card.
- Deal the Cards: Distribute the cards evenly among players. It's okay if one player has one card more than the others.
- Forming Pairs: At the start, players check their cards and place any pairs they have down in front of them.
Gameplay
- The player to the left of the dealer begins the game.
- Each player takes a turn to draw a card from the hand of their left neighbor.
- After drawing, the player checks if they can form a pair with the drawn card and one of their hand cards. If they can, they place the pair on the table immediately. Players must not reveal which card they draw.
- Play continues in clockwise order.
- The goal is to discard all paired cards without being left with the Mistigri card.
Special Rules and Strategies
- Strategy: While often seen as a simple luck-based game, players can try to remember which cards have been drawn and attempt to avoid drawing unwanted cards.
- Detection: Any attempts to mark cards, such as by bending them, are considered cheating.
End of Game
The game ends when all pairs have been laid down and only the Mistigri card is left. The player holding this card loses the game.
Mistigri's simple rules make it ideal for young players, but the game remains entertaining and engaging for people of all ages.
