Objective of the Game
The objective of Escalero is to score points by achieving specific dice combinations within a limited number of rolls. Players attempt to roll the best combinations each round to earn points and win the game.
Game Materials
- 5 Dice
- A score sheet or paper and pen for a scoring list
- Optional: Dice cup
Game Setup
- Each player receives a score sheet and a pen.
- The order of players is agreed upon.
- The game can be played with 2 or more players, with 3-6 players being ideal.
Basic Rules

Round Structure: Each player takes turns rolling and has a total of three rolls per round.
- After each roll, the player can decide which dice to keep and which to roll again.

Valuable Combinations: Similar card or dice games also involve combinations or sets known as poker hands using dice or similar.
- One Pair: Two identical dice.
- Two Pairs: Two different pairs.
- Three of a Kind: Three identical dice.
- Straight: Five consecutive numbers (e.g., 1, 2, 3, 4, 5).
- Full House: A three of a kind and a pair.
- Four of a Kind: Four identical dice.
- Five of a Kind: All five dice show the same number.

Scoring:
- The achieved combinations are scored according to a commonly known or agreed-upon points table.

Round Goal: Each player tries to strategically utilize their rolls to form the most valuable combinations that are recorded on their score sheet.
Strategies
- Risk Management: Decide when it's worth rerolling for a better combination versus when to settle for a safer choice.
- Bluff: Try to obscure your luck or strategy from other players.
Victory Conditions
The game ends when a predetermined number of rounds have been played, or all possible combinations have been scored once. The player with the highest score wins.
