Objective
The objective of Lascaux is to collect scoring markers by strategically bidding on animal cards and acquiring majorities in different animal categories to score points.
Components
- Animal cards in six different categories (e.g., bisons, mammoths, etc.)
- Colored scoring markers
- Money tokens (used to make bids)
Setup
- Shuffle the animal cards and place them in a face-down draw pile.
- Each player receives an equal number of money tokens (amount varies by the number of players).
- Lay out the scoring markers, sorted by color, in the center of the table.
Gameplay
The game is played in rounds, each involving the following steps:

Reveal Cards: Flip a certain number of animal cards (depending on the number of players) from the draw pile and place them face-up in the center.

Bidding: Starting with the first player, each player can choose either to pass or to place a bid by putting a money token on one of the exposed cards.

Bidding Phase: Continue in rounds until only one player remains in the bidding. The last bidder wins the bid and takes the card they bid on, along with any money tokens on it.

Scoring Markers: The exiting players, in turn, choose a scoring marker from the pile of a participating bidder. One marker can be chosen per exited player.

End of Round: Once all cards are distributed this way, a new round begins.
End of Game
The game ends when all animal cards have been taken.
Scoring
Players count their scoring markers at the end of the game. Players who hold the majority in each category earn the corresponding points.
