Mankomania

Objective of the Game:

The objective of Mankomania is to be the first player to spend all of your licensed money and be broke. Players strategically channel their finances into gambling and investments to successfully empty their wealth.

Game Components:

  • A game board
  • Game pieces for each player
  • Banknotes from the bank (play money)
  • Event cards
  • Dice

Setup:

  1. Each player selects a game piece and places it on the starting space of the game board.
  2. All players receive an equal amount of starting capital in the form of play money, which they must spend during the game.
  3. Shuffle the event cards and place them face down next to the game board.
  4. Select a banker to manage the money and event cards.

Gameplay:

  1. Rolling the Dice and Moving: Players roll the dice in turn and move their game piece forward on the board by the rolled number.

  2. Spaces:

  3. Event Card Spaces: If a player lands on an event card space, they draw the top event card and follow its instructions. These events can be positive or negative.
  4. Investment Spaces: Landing on an investment space allows a player to decide whether to invest. These investments are risky and could lead to gains or losses.
  5. Gambling Spaces: These spaces allow players to stake their money in hopes of losing it. Through a simple gambling mechanic, they can experience significant losses, though there's also a risk of winning, which can delay the game objective.

  6. Going Broke: The aim is to be the first player to spend all money, often requiring calculated decisions on when to risk large amounts.

Special Rules:

  • No Loans: Players are not allowed to borrow money, as the goal is to spend it.
  • Bank Return: If players land on "Return to Bank" spaces or cards, there are options for dramatic actions that can significantly change the game course, like the complete loss of money.

Strategic Tips:

  • Try to land on event card spaces, as these often have positive effects that may help lose money faster.
  • Consider carefully when it's beneficial to stake large amounts; risks enhance the chances of losing money.
  • Keep an eye on other players to avoid enabling them to follow your lead, which might disrupt your strategy.

Ending the Game:

The game ends when the first player successfully spends all their money. This player is declared the winner.

Mankomania is an entertaining game that requires a mix of strategy and luck, with surprises as players attempt to reach their goal of going broke.
