Objective of the Game
Tock is a board game similar to the famous "Sorry!", but it is played with cards instead of dice. The aim of the game is to be the first to move all your pieces from the starting area to the goal.
Number of Players
- The game can be played with 2 to 6 players.
Game Materials
- A Tock board with tracks for the pieces
- A standard 52-card deck
- 4 pieces per player
Setup
- Each player takes four pieces of one color and places them in the starting area.
- The deck of cards is shuffled.
- For 2 to 4 players, each receives four cards, for five or six players three cards.
Gameplay
Cards and Moves
- At the beginning of each round, players draw cards to have their full hand size again (see setup).
- Play progresses in clockwise order.
Card Functions
- Ace: Can bring a piece out from the starting area into play or move any piece 1 space forward.
- 2: Move a piece 2 spaces forward, followed by playing another card.
- 3-10: Move a piece exactly the indicated number of spaces.
- Jack (11): Allows you to swap one of your pieces with an opponent's piece.
- Queen (12): Move a piece 12 spaces forward.
- King: Can bring a piece from the start into play or move a piece 13 spaces forward.
Movement
- Pieces are moved clockwise around the board.
- The aim is to get to the goal area. Exact numbers are needed to enter the goal area.
- If a piece lands on an occupied space, the occupying piece is sent back to its starting area.
Winning Conditions
- The first player to get all their pieces into the goal area wins the game.
Strategic Considerations
- Keep track of the cards: Knowing what cards are in the deck or have already been played can offer strategic advantages.
- Use swapping cards wisely: The Jack can be significant for disrupting your opponents.
- Keep options open: Whenever possible, use cards that give you flexibility for future moves.
With these rules and strategies in mind, I wish you lots of fun playing Tock!
