Objective of the Game

Kotra (known as "Fruit Orchard" in English) is a cooperative board game where players work together to harvest all the fruits before the raven reaches the orchard. The focus of the game is teamwork, with the players striving to win against the game itself rather than competing against each other.

Game Components

• 10 apple trees (red fruits)
• 10 pear trees (yellow fruits)
• 10 cherry trees (blue fruits)
• 10 plum trees (green fruits)
• 1 raven (made of wood or plastic)
• 1 six-sided die
• 1 game board with a path for the raven and an orchard area

Setup

1. Place the game board in the center of the table.
2. Distribute the fruits on the corresponding trees on the board.
3. Place the raven on the starting square of its path.
4. Players sit around the board and discuss their strategy to win the game.

Gameplay

The game is played clockwise. Each player takes turns rolling the die. Depending on the outcome, different actions are taken:

• Red, Yellow, Blue, or Green Fruit: The player takes one fruit of the corresponding color from the tree and places it in the basket. If no fruits of that color are left on the trees, nothing happens, and the next player rolls the die.
• Raven: The raven advances one space closer to the orchard.
• Basket: The player may take two fruits of any color off the trees.

Game Objective

The objective is to collect all the fruits from the trees before the raven reaches the end of its path.

End of the Game

• The game immediately ends if the raven reaches the final field of its path, meaning the players lose the game.
• If all fruits are collected before the raven reaches the end of its path, all players win together.

Strategic Tips

Since Kotra is a cooperative game, it's important to communicate with the team and make decisions collectively. A potential strategy could be to focus on collecting the fruits that appear most frequently on the die to minimize delays. Additionally, using the "Basket" roll strategically to remove fruits from trees with fewer sides on the die can also be helpful.
