Objective of the Game
The objective of "The aMAZEing Labyrinth" is to collect all the treasures depicted on your secret cards and return to your starting point. The first player to collect all their treasures and return to their starting position wins the game.
Game Components
- A game board with both fixed and movable pathways
- 24 treasure cards
- 34 maze cards
- Four game pieces
- One extra maze card
Setup
-
Setting up the Maze: The game board consists of some fixed pathways, which are complemented by placing the maze cards randomly on the open spaces of the board, thus forming a movable labyrinth.
-
Starting Positions: Each player chooses a game piece and places it on one of the colored starting points in the corners of the labyrinth.
-
Distributing the Treasure Cards: Shuffle the treasure cards and deal them evenly to each player without revealing them to others.
-
Extra Maze Card: One maze card remains and is placed beside the board.
Gameplay
During their turn, each player can choose the following actions:
- Shift the Labyrinth:
- The player slides the extra maze card into a row of their choice, altering the maze. This simultaneously pushes another card out on the opposite side.
-
Note that the card just pushed out becomes the new extra maze card available for the next player.
-
Move the Game Piece:
- After moving a piece of the maze, the player can move their piece along the newly opened pathways towards their treasure targets.
-
The movement can continue as far as the uninterrupted path allows.
-
Collect a Treasure:
- When a player reaches a treasure that matches their current exposed treasure card, they place the card aside and proceed to the next one.
End of the Game
The game ends when a player collects all their treasure cards and returns to their starting position. This player is the winner.
Strategy
- Plan your shifts to benefit your game plan while not overly helping opponents.
- A good move can both open paths for you and block potential future moves for others.
- Think ahead by predicting the possible next position of the movable card.
