Objective
Spooky Stairs is an exciting board game where the goal is to be the first to get your game piece to the target at the top of the stairs. The twist is that the pieces will be transformed into ghosts during the game, losing their identities and making it a thrilling game of confusion.
Components
- 1 Game board (stairs)
- 4 Pawns (one per player)
- 4 Ghost covers
- 1 Special die (with symbols)
Setup
- Place the game board in the center of the table.
- Each player chooses a pawn color.
- All pawns start at the base of the staircase.
- Place the special die and ghost covers nearby.
Gameplay
- Play proceeds clockwise.
- A player rolls the special die, which shows either 2-4 points or the ghost symbol (a ghost).
Points: - If the die shows points, the player moves their pawn up the stairs according to the number shown. - If a pawn moves in front of another on the staircase, the move is made.
Ghost symbol: - If the ghost symbol is rolled, the player can transform any pawn into a ghost by placing a ghost cover over it. - Once a pawn is covered, players no longer see its identity.
Players may roll again if they roll a ghost symbol.
Winning Conditions
- The game is won by the player who first gets their pawn or a ghost-covered pawn representing their piece to the target.
Strategic Tips
- Memory: Try to remember which pawn is under which ghost cover.
- Tactical Disguise: Use the ghost covers strategically to protect your piece or confuse other players.
- Bluffing: Don't show which is your pawn. This may lead others to protect or move the wrong piece.
Spooky Stairs is especially suitable for younger players and families due to its simple rules yet high level of fun and interaction.
