Objective of the Game

The objective of Talisman is to be the first to reach the "Crown of Command" at the center of the game board and defeat all other players. To achieve this, you'll need to strengthen your character, learn spells, and overcome opponents.

Game Components

  • Game Board featuring three concentric regions: the outer, middle, and inner regions.
  • Character Cards, each representing a player with different strengths (battle power) and abilities.
  • Adventure Cards, Spell Cards, and Equipment Tokens.
  • Dice for movement and combat.

Setup

  1. Each player chooses or randomly draws a character card, receiving the starting values for lives, strength, and craft shown on the card.
  2. Players receive spell cards if demanded by their character.
  3. Adventure Cards are shuffled and placed nearby.
  4. Each player places their figure on the designated starting space.
  5. The game begins with the youngest player or the one deemed the most fond of talismans.

Game Play

  1. Movement Phase: The active player rolls a dice and moves according to the roll
  2. In either direction in the outer region.
  3. Each region has specific spaces with instructions or requires card drawing.
  4. Resolving Events: The player draws Adventure Cards upon landing on unoccupied or "Adventure" spaces:
  5. Encounters with monsters, cursed rivers, or magical objects.
  6. Adventure Cards can also describe quests or event cards that affect the player's fate.
  7. Combat Phase: When a player encounters an opponent, a battle ensues:
  8. Skill vs. Monsters: Use the player's strength or craft against the corresponding creature's skill. Add dice rolls and any potential bonuses.
  9. Winning often yields rewards or monster cards as trophies.
  10. Losing results in losing lives.
  11. End Phase: Discarded Monster Cards can be exchanged for increased strength or craft.

Special Features

  • Talismans are required to enter the board's center. Quests or special event cards must be utilized to acquire one.
  • Spell Cards: Leverage spells for game advantages or to hinder opponents.
  • Inner Region: Challenging zone requiring specific stats or spells to progress further.

Winning the Game

Upon reaching the center of the board, "Crown of Command", be the last player standing or dominate while fending off incoming rivals. The player who can hold this final position wins the game.
