Objective of the Game
The goal of 'Bataille royale' is to collect as many points as possible by the end of the game by skilfully using cards and strategic thinking to defeat opponents.
Game Components
The game consists of: - A deck of 52 cards.
Setup
- Thoroughly shuffle the deck of cards.
- Deal each player an equal number of cards face down. Ideally, the game is played with 2–4 players, each receiving 13 cards (given a standard deck of 52 cards).
- The remaining cards are not used and can be set aside.
Gameplay
- Starting the Game: The youngest player starts the game by drawing the top card of their stack and placing it face up in the middle.
- Turn Order: Other players follow in a clockwise direction, also placing the top card of their stack face up in the center.
- Comparing Cards: Once each player has placed a card, they are flipped over, and the highest card wins the round. The order of card ranks is from lowest to highest: 2, 3, 4,... 10, Jack, Queen, King, Ace.
- Collecting Cards: The winner of the round takes all played cards and places them at the bottom of their stack.
- Next Round: The winner of the round begins the next round.
- Strategic Aspect: Players can try to develop strategies by observing played cards to guess which cards are still in play and conserve higher value cards for crucial moments.
Special Rules
- Tie: If two or more cards are tied for the highest rank, a "battle" ensues – each tied player places three additional cards face down on the tied cards and a fourth card face up. The player with the highest of these revealed cards wins all the cards involved in the battle.
End of the Game
The game ends when all cards have been played. The player with the most collected cards is the winner.
Tips and Strategies
- Observe and Remember: Try to remember the cards that have already been played to gauge what cards your opponents might still hold.
- Risk Management: Carefully decide when to play your strongest cards, especially during battles.
