Objective of the Game "Black Cat"

The goal of the game "Black Cat" is to cleverly discard cards to win the game without having the "Black Cat" card in your hand, as this will give you penalty points. The game encourages strategic thinking and memory skills.

Game Materials

  • A standard deck of 52 playing cards.
  • Additional Joker cards represent the "Black Cat".

Setup

  1. Prepare the deck: Remove all Jokers and then add one Joker back as the "Black Cat".
  2. Shuffle the cards: Thoroughly shuffle the deck.
  3. Deal the cards: Each player receives an equal number of cards. If the number is uneven, any remaining cards go back into the deck.

Game Play

  1. Determine the starting player: Depending on the agreement, the player with the highest card may start, or a start player is chosen randomly.
  2. Discard cards: The starting player chooses a card from their hand to play in the center.
  3. Follow suit: The next player must play a card of the same suit if possible. If unable to follow suit, they may play any card.
  4. Round end: Once the last card is played, the round ends. Players count penalty points. Having the "Black Cat" results in additional penalty points.
  5. New round: Cards are reshuffled and redealt.

Scoring

  • Number cards (2 to 10): count their face value in points.
  • Face cards (King, Queen, Jack): 10 points each.
  • Ace: 11 points.
  • Black Cat (Joker): 20 penalty points.

At the end of a predetermined time period or a set number of rounds, the player with the fewest penalty points wins.

Tactical Considerations

  • Play strategically: Try to pass the "Black Cat" to other players without being obvious.
  • Mix up your discards: Vary your card-playing strategy to confuse or disrupt other players.
  • Minimize hand value: Try to finish the round with as few high-value cards as possible in your hand.
