Objective of the Game

Raids is a strategic board game where players act as Vikings going on great voyages to gather glory and treasures. The main objective is to have the most glory points (victory points) after four rounds.

Game Components

• 1 Game Board
• 4 Ship Boards
• 16 Viking Figures in four colors
• 32 Equipment Tiles
• 20 Coins
• 6 Coin Island Tiles
• 4 Tavern Cards
• Raid Tiles: including monsters, trading posts, runes, and more
• Round Marker
• Start Player Marker

Setup

1. Place the game board in the center of the table.
2. Each player takes a ship board and the corresponding Viking figures.
3. Place the round marker on the first round on the game board.
4. Shuffle the raid tiles and set them up according to the round.
5. Place the coins and remaining tiles within reach next to the board.

Game Rules

• Turn: During a turn, a player moves their ship along a course and may land on various tile actions. A turn consists of moving and interacting.
• Movement: Players move their ship along the track, either landing on the next available tile or skipping over several spaces to reach a further unoccupied tile.

• Interaction: Depending on the tile a player lands on, different actions are triggered, such as fighting monsters, stopping at trading posts, or recruiting Vikings.

• Battles: If two ships land on the same tile, they engage in a battle. The attacking player must sacrifice a Viking to force the other player to defend. The defending player can either also sacrifice a Viking or vacate the tile without a fight.

• Vikings and Equipment: During their journeys, players can recruit additional Vikings or gather equipment that provides advantages throughout the game.

• Monster Encounter: Players may encounter monsters in certain sections of the route, which must be defeated for the player's ship to continue.

• Round Objective: At the end of each round, players can trade in coins and tiles for glory points.

End of Game and Scoring

After four rounds, the game ends. Players count their glory points from collected tiles and coins. The player with the most glory points wins.

Strategic Tips

• Route Planning: It can be beneficial to plan a route that maximizes the effect of the available tiles.
• Resource Management: Wisely using Viking figures can mean the difference between a successful or a failed raid.
• Balance between Combat and Voyage: Too many battles can deplete resources and slow the journey, so strategic navigation is key.

Raids offers an excellent blend of strategy, luck, and interaction, where players strive to manage their Viking fleet smartly to achieve the greatest glory.
