Rolling Japan - Dice Game

Strategy, Family Game

group 1 - 99 Deutsch

Objective of the Game:

Rolling America is a strategic dice game where players aim to effectively fill their map with numbers by distributing dice results across neighboring states. The objective is to make as few errors as possible and achieve the lowest error score by the end of the game.

Components:

  • A block with erasable USA maps for each player.
  • 7 colored dice (6 for the six regions and 1 transparent die).
  • A cloth to conceal the dice.
  • Markers or erasable pens.

Setup:

  1. Each player receives a map of the USA and a marker.
  2. The 7 dice are placed in the cloth and thoroughly mixed.

Gameplay:

The game is played over 8 rounds. Each round consists of the following steps:

  1. Rolling Dice: The starting player randomly draws two dice from the cloth and rolls them.
  2. The color of the die indicates which region (color) on the map the rolled number can be recorded.
  3. The transparent die can be used in any region.
  4. Recording Numbers: All players must record the rolled numbers on their maps, adhering to the following rules:
  5. Neighboring Regions: A number can be placed in a neighboring region (vertically or horizontally, not diagonally) only if the number difference between neighboring regions is a maximum of 1.
  6. Free Choice: If no rule is violated, the number can always be placed.
  7. Leaving Blank: If the number cannot be placed legally, the corresponding error mark must be crossed out.

  8. Special Abilities: Each player has two "Protection Medicines" and "Insight" options per game:

  9. Protection Medicine: Used once per color to prevent a rule violation.
  10. Insight: Allows you to use a number twice to place it alternately in neighboring regions.

  11. Next Round: Once all players have placed both numbers or made error marks, the dice are placed back into the cloth, and the next player draws two new dice for the next round.

Rounds and End of the Game:

The game consists of exactly 8 rounds (each time the cloth is emptied, a round ends). After 8 rounds, each player counts their error marks. The player with the fewest error marks wins.

Tips and Strategies:

  • It's important to strategically use the special abilities early to avoid critical error spots.
  • Plan ahead by noting down free and safe fields for placement.
  • Using the transparent die at strategically important moments can be crucial, as you have the freedom to choose where it will be used.
