Objective

In Uisge, the objective of the players is to gather the most points by skillfully using cards and actions, effectively managing one's hand, and achieving specific card objectives, which eventually can allow a player to win the game.

Setup

Let's start with the setup:

  1. Each player receives a set of cards and a few markers for points tracking at the beginning of the game.
  2. The remaining cards form a draw pile from which players will draw cards throughout the game.
  3. A game board is placed on the table, displaying various zones where cards can be activated or played.
  4. Each player selects a starting card placed openly in front of them.

Gameplay

A typical game of Uisge is played over several rounds, with players taking turns performing actions. Each round consists of the following phases:

1. Draw Phase

  • Each player draws two cards from their personal draw deck.

2. Action Phase

  • In this phase, players can choose one of the following actions:
  • Play card: Place a card from the hand into a zone on the game board.
  • Draw card: Draw two additional cards from the deck.
  • Use special ability: Utilize a card with a special ability.
  • Attack points: Affect an opponent's points depending on the card type.

3. Scoring Phase

  • At the end of the action phase, players calculate the points on their active cards. Special combination cards may provide additional points or bonuses depending on conditions on the game board.

4. End Phase

  • Check for victory conditions. This could be reaching a specific point total or collecting a number of victory markers.

Ending the Game

The game ends when a player reaches a predetermined number of points or after a set number of rounds. The player with the highest score at this point wins the game.

Strategic Tips

  • Hand management is important since overloading your hand can lead to unused cards that don’t score points.
  • Strategically blocking opponents by placing cards wisely on the board can significantly reduce their score.
  • Using special abilities at the right time can shift the momentum of the game and should be used wisely.

Uisge is a game that requires both strategic thinking and a good memory to effectively manage card combinations and react to the actions of other players.
