Objective of the Game
The objective of "Suleika" is to score points by skillfully placing rugs on a game board. Players collect points by landing on specific bonus point spaces or by dominating shaded areas around buildings.
Setup
- Set up the Game Board: Place the board in the center of the table.
- Prepare Rug Tiles: Each player receives a set number of rug tiles in their color. The number varies depending on the number of players, typically 12 to 15 per player.
- Determine Starting Player: Randomly select a starting player.
Gameplay
The game is played in rounds, with players taking turns to perform actions. A round proceeds as follows:
- Place a Rug: The active player places one rug tile vertically or horizontally on the board. Placement rules include:
- Rugs can be placed on any unoccupied space or partially/fully covering other tiles.
- Diagonal placement is not allowed.
-
No more than two rugs can be stacked on top of each other.
-
Collect Points: If placing a rug results in covering or reaching a line leading to a bonus point space, the player immediately scores those points.
-
Majority Scoring (optional, based on variant): Once all rugs are placed, count the predominant colors in each sector to grant majority bonuses.
End of the Game
The game ends once all players have placed their rugs or can make no further valid moves. The winner is the player with the most points.
Strategy Tips
- Secure Points Early: Aim to secure tiles with high points early in the game.
- Block Opponents: Place rugs strategically to prevent opponents from accessing valuable tiles.
- Control Majorities: Focus on maintaining the majority in key areas for bonus points.
