Objective:
In Cursed!, all players work together to fend off cursed items and monsters while collecting magical artifacts. The objective is to end the game with more artifacts than cursed items, ideally more than 10, to win the game.
Components:
- A set of cards, including artifacts, cursed items, and monsters
- A set of hero cards
- A deck featuring actions and trading possibilities
Setup:
- Shuffle the artifact cards together with the cursed cards (cursed items and monsters) into one deck.
- Place the deck face down in the center.
- Each player receives one hero card, showing the special ability that player can use to support the team.
- Agree on the number of rounds to be played.
Gameplay:
Cursed! is played in rounds. During each round, players take turns drawing cards from the pile. Each card has a different effect:
- Artifact cards: Keep these cards; they count toward victory at the end of the game.
- Cursed items: These are detrimental and should be avoided or eliminated through effects.
- Monsters: These are an immediate threat and should be fought off as quickly as possible using the hero abilities.
Player's Turn:
- Draw a card from the deck.
- If it's an artifact, add it to your stash.
- If it's a cursed item or a monster, lay it face up.
- Decide if you want to use your hero's ability or a cooperative action to neutralize the cursed card.
Key Notes and Strategies:
- Cooperation: Players should use their abilities and cards wisely to succeed against cursed items and monsters. Communication is key!
- Resource Management: Decide when and how to use your hero abilities and action cards. Overusing them might lead to scarcity later on.
- Risk Assessment: Decide when it is worth drawing a card, especially as the deck gets thinner.
Since the game is cooperative, the entire team wins or loses together. Careful planning and strategic teamwork are crucial for success in Cursed!.
