Objective
Nimmgib is a simple dice game where the goal is to collect as many points as possible. Players must decide whether to risk collecting more points or to secure the points they have already accumulated.
Components
- One die
- Point tokens or a paper to note down scores
Setup
- Each player receives a certain number of starting points or chips, for example 10.
- Determine a starting player, for example, by rolling the die with the highest roll going first.
How to Play
- Rolling the Die: The starting player begins by rolling the die.
- Take or Give Points: The player adds the dice roll number to their point total. They have two options:
- Take: The player can add the points to their own score and roll the die again.
- Give: The player gives the current round's points to another player. This means subtracting the rolled points from their own score and adding them to the chosen player's score.
- Risks: If a player rolls a

, they lose all points accumulated in that round, regardless of whether they gained them through their own rolls or received them, except the points they have already secured on their score. - Ending a Round: The player may decide to end their round at any time after a roll and secure the points.
- Next Player: The next player in clockwise order takes their turn and follows the same steps.
Rules and Nuances
- Strategy: Consider when it is more beneficial to take or give points. A high roll can be a tactical move in giving to disadvantage an opponent, while repeatedly risking on your own can lead to loss of round's points.
- Game End: The game can end after a predetermined number of rounds or when a player reaches a specific score, e.g., 100 points.
- Winner: The player with the highest score at the end wins the game.
Tips
- Be cautious with your rolls when you're ahead to ensure your points.
- Use the chance to give other players fewer points to stabilize your score or weaken an opponent.
