Objective:

In Maestro, the objective is to become the best conductor of the orchestra. Players aim to collect the highest points by performing various music pieces.

Setup:

  • Each player gets a Conductor board depicting their conductor character.
  • There is a deck of Music Cards and Sheet Music Cards for different instruments.
  • Each player starts with five music cards in their hand.
  • Shuffle the sheet music cards and place them face down in the center of the table.

Gameplay:

  1. Beginning of Turn:
  2. The active player draws two music cards from the draw pile.

  3. Player Actions:

  4. A player may play any number of music cards to meet the requirements of a sheet music card.
  5. Once the requirements of a sheet music card are fulfilled (e.g., 2 violins, 1 flute), the player can claim the card.
  6. Sheet music cards provide points at the end of the game.

  7. Actions:

  8. Improvise: If a player cannot play suitable cards, they can improvise by discarding a card and drawing a new one.
  9. Duet: If two players wish to work together, they can collectively play cards to meet a challenging sheet music card and share the points.
  10. Counter: A player can play a card to counter another player's progress, e.g., preventing them from completing a sheet music card.

  11. End of Turn:

  12. The active player can discard up to two music cards to optimize their hand and refill to five cards.

End of Game and Scoring:

  • The game ends when the music card deck is exhausted and no more cards can be drawn.
  • Players tally the points from their sheet music cards.
  • The player with the highest points is the winner and best conductor.

Strategic Tips:

  • Prioritize Easy Scores: Make sure to collect some easy sheet music quickly to ensure constant point accumulation.
  • Pay Attention to Interaction: Utilize counter actions to disturb other players' progress strategically.
  • Collaboration: The duet feature can help you score complex sheet music that would be unattainable alone.

Have fun playing Maestro! It requires a good balance of strategy and cooperation to emerge victoriously.
