Objective of the Game
In Stone Age, players take on the roles of tribal leaders during the prehistoric period known as the Stone Age. The goal is to use workers effectively to gather resources, build huts, and acquire civilization cards to score the most points by the end of the game.
Setup
- Game Board: Place the board in the center of the table, which shows various action spaces.
- Resources: Put resources like wood, clay, stone, and gold into the supply, and the food tokens near the hunting grounds.
- Civilization Cards & Buildings: Shuffle and place the civilization cards on their spot. Draw four cards and place them face up. Shuffle and stack the building tiles.
- Player Materials: Each player gets a player board, five workers in their color, five wooden markers, and a points marker.
- Starting Resources: Each player starts with twelve food tokens.
Gameplay
The game is played over several rounds, each divided into three phases:
1. Placing Workers
Players take turns placing workers on the board's action spaces to perform actions:
- Resource Spaces: Workers can gather wood, clay, stone, and gold.
- Field: Increases food production for the next rounds.
- Tool Maker: Allows producing tools helping in future rolls.
- Love Hut: Gain an additional worker (baby).
- Buy Buildings and Cards: Use resources to obtain points and permanent advantages.
2. Rolling Dice and Executing Actions
Once placed, players resolve their worker actions:
- Collecting Resources: For each worker placed, roll dice to gather resources based on rolled values and resource space cost (e.g., wood: 3, clay: 4, etc.).
- Tools: Allow adding 1-3 to the results of resource collections.
- Feeding Tribe: Each worker requires one food at the end of the round.
3. Feeding and Progress
- Feed Workers: One food per worker. If short, lose 10 points.
- Round End:
- Maintain food levels for the next round.
- Workers return to the player board.
The game ends when civilization cards or building tiles are exhausted.
