The Kids of Catan
Objective of the Game:
The objective of "The Kids of Catan" game is simple: Players build settlements and roads to collect points. The first player to reach a certain number of points wins the game.
Game Components: - Game board - Various resource cards (wood, brick, wool, grain, and ore) - Building spaces for settlements and cities - Roads - Robber figure - Construction costs cards - Dice
Setup: 1. Place the game board in the center of the table. 2. Each player chooses a color and receives 5 settlements, 4 cities, and 15 roads in that color, as well as a construction cost card. 3. The resource cards are shuffled and placed face down next to the board. 4. Determine randomly which player starts.
Gameplay:
"The Kids of Catan" is played over several rounds until a player reaches the required point total.
- Resource Collection:
- Each round, the current player rolls a die. The number rolled indicates which fields produce resources.
- All players receive the corresponding resources from fields adjacent to and containing their settlements.
- Building:
- Players can build roads or settlements and later upgrade their settlements to cities using the resources shown on their construction cost cards.
- Each built road, settlement, and city earns points.
- Robber and Trading:
- The player can move the robber to block production on a field.
- Players may also trade with each other to exchange resources.
Special Features and Strategies: - The Robber: If a 7 is rolled, the robber is activated. The active player moves the robber piece to a new field and can draw a card from a player adjacent to that field. - Trading: Smart trading of resources is crucial. Consider what you need to save or trade resources for. - Settlement Placement: Choose your building locations strategically. Good locations for settlements and cities can make a difference.
End of the Game:
The game ends once a player reaches the predetermined number of points.
