"Das Labyrinth der Ringe" (The Labyrinth of the Rings) is a strategic board game where players navigate a constantly changing labyrinth to collect treasures on their way and aim to be the first to reach the goal. The objective is to find the most treasures and reach the exit before other players succeed.

Game Components

• 1 game board with a maze-like grid
• Many movable tiles that shape the maze
• Pawns for each player
• Treasure cards
• Treasure tokens to be placed in the maze

Setup

1. Set up the board: Place the fixed parts of the labyrinth on the board according to the game's instructions.
2. Shuffle tiles: Mix the movable maze tiles and place them randomly on the designated spaces on the board.
3. Distribute treasure cards: Each player receives an equal number of treasure cards, which represent their target objects in the maze.
4. Place pawns: Each player places their pawn on a starting position at the edge of the board.

Gameplay

1. Draw a treasure card: A player draws the top card from their pile. This shows the treasure they must reach next.
2. Shift the labyrinth: Before a player moves, they must insert a movable maze tile into the board, shifting a whole row or column to shape the labyrinth.
3. Move: The player moves their pawn through the paths of the labyrinth. They can only use open and connected paths.
4. Collect treasures: When the player reaches the space containing their target object (from their treasure card), they collect that treasure.
5. End turn: The next player takes their turn by drawing a new treasure card, and the process repeats.

Special Rules

• Tile outside the board: The tile that falls out from a shift is used by the next player for their move.
• Blocking paths: Players may not jump over opponent's pawns, so they often need to find a detour or cleverly reshape the labyrinth.
• Strategic nuances: Pay attention to not only shaping your own path but also influencing your opponents' paths.

Ending the Game

The game ends when a player finds all their treasures and returns first to the starting point. The player with the most collected treasures is the winner.
