Objective of the Game
Tyros is a strategic board game where players develop cities on a fictional map and expand their economic influence. The objective is to collect the most victory points through clever placement and trading, ultimately emerging as the most influential Tyros.
Game Components
- A map with various types of terrains (forests, mountains, plains, etc.)
- City markers for each player in different colors
- Resource cards (wood, stone, grain, metal)
- Trade markers and score counters
Setup
- Place the game board in the center of the table.
- Each player receives a limited number of city markers, three of each resource card type, and a score counter at the beginning.
- Shuffle the resource cards and place them as a face-down draw pile.
Gameplay
The game is played over rounds. Each round consists of the following phases:
- Resource Gathering
- At the beginning of each round, players draw two resource cards each from the pile.
-
Different terrain types on the map may generate additional resources. If a city is adjacent to a specific terrain type, it can collect extra resources.
-
Founding or Upgrading Cities
- Players can place city markers on available spaces on the map if they possess the required resources.
-
Already founded cities can be upgraded with collected resources to increase their influence and point yield.
-
Trading
-
In this phase, players can trade resources with each other or use trade markers to exchange with the common supply.
-
Scoring
- At the end of each round, players tally their income from their cities. Certain combinations and strategic placements can result in bonus points.
Winning Conditions
The game ends when a player reaches a predefined number of points or when all cities are placed on the board. The player with the most points wins.
Strategic Tips
- Placement: The location of a city is crucial for resource gathering. Position cities adjacent to terrains that generate the most resources.
- Long-Term Planning: Keep an eye on the long-term benefits of upgrading cities and plan ahead your resource distribution.
