Match Attax

Objective

The goal of Match Attax is to assemble a stronger football team than your opponent and win the most matches by strategically using your cards with the best values.

Components

• Match Attax card packs, each card represents a football player.
• Each card has attack and defense values.
• Playmat (optional) to organize cards.

Setup

1. Card Selection: Each player chooses a set of cards, usually consisting of about 16 or more cards, depending on the agreed rules.
2. Formation: Place your cards face-down in a row or stack.

Rules

1. Beginning the Game: The starting player selects one of their cards and decides whether to use the attack value or the defense value.
2. Challenge: The opponent then picks one of their cards and reveals it. Only reflect on the value chosen by the starting player (either attack or defense).
3. Comparison: Compare the two values. The card with the higher value wins the round.
4. In case of a tie, the round is a draw.
5. Winning a Round: The winner takes the loser's card and puts it aside. Depending on your house rules, it might be excluded from future rounds or kept for the final score.
6. Next Round: Roles reverse, and play continues until all cards are played or a predetermined number of rounds is settled.

End of the Game

Once all rounds are completed or no cards remain, count the number of victories. The player with the most wins (often counted as the number of cards won) is the overall winner.

Strategic Tips

• Be mindful of when to play your strongest cards. Deploy them when you suspect your opponent might use weaker cards.
• Some players save their strongest cards for the end to make a comeback or deliver a strong finishing point.
• Observe your opponent’s play style. If they often choose attack, prepare to counter with higher defense values.

• Trading Cards: Some game variations allow for card trades at certain points, which can alter your strategy.
• Power Cards: These special cards may have unique abilities or higher values than typical cards.
